January is always a busy year for the automobile industry as most manufacturers hold their launches for the new year and everything started to happen immediately. Like every year, 2021 also starts with a number of launches from entry-level products to premium cars. Here is a list of what happening in the Industry this month.

Audi A4 - January 5

Audi launched the new A4 today in India. The company has already begun the production of the updated model last month. The A4 facelift model made its official debut back in May 2019 and the company took more than one year to introduce the new model in India. Audi has made lots of exterior changes for the A4, which includes new front and rear bumper along with updated headlamps and a new design for the LED DRLs while the grille also gets a small tweak. The fog lamps housing is completely new and the air-intake is slightly larger than the earlier model.

Toyota Fortuner Facelift - January 6

Toyota will officially launch the much-awaited updated Fortuner in India on January 6. The Fortuner facelift model was unveiled last year and the company took sometime to introduce the model in India. The main highlight is going to be the Legender variant as it will be positioned as a replacement for the discontinued TRD variant.

Jeep Compass Facelift - January 7

Jeep will officially reveal the Compass facelift in India on January 7. The model was already unveiled in China and the India-spec model is expected to get similar changes. Most of the changes are on the front. The headlamps are a lot sleeker than before and the lower portion is a little more angular as well. The headlamp inserts are new and you can expect full-LED headlamps to be standard on the higher-spec trims. Although the grille remains similar in size and shape, the detailing is new with honeycomb inserts. The lower bumper is again completely new with a contrast black trim that runs end-to-end connecting the two fog lamps at either end.

MG Hector Facelift - January 7

The Hector facelift gets mild exterior changes like redesigned front grille along with new 18-inch alloy wheels and a new bumper. The interior gets new dual-tone colour along with new features like wireless charging and ventilated seats. The engines will be same L diesel and L turbo petrol and rumours are indicated that diesel might get an automatic option like Harrier.

Tata Altroz Turbo - January 13

After a long wait, Tata Motors will finally launch the Altroz Turbo in India on January 13. The Altroz Turbo will be powered by L turbo unit from Nexon but the power has been limited to 110 hp and 140 Nm. The gearbox options include a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. The Altroz Turbo will thus be the first  Tata car to be equipped with a DCT gearbox and it will be sourced from the Belgian company, Punch. It will be a dry-clutch, seven-speed unit and the gear shifter on the Altroz DCT will come from Lumax.

BMW 3 Series Gran Limo - January 21

Like the Altroz, another model which has been waited for more than six months is the new BMW 3 Series Gran Limo as it will be the replacement for 3 Series GT. Like the Mercedes E Class Long Wheelbase, the introduction of Gran Limo is expected to shake up the segment a lot. The 3 Series Long Wheelbase is already on sale in Chine but India will be the first market to get the right-hand-drive version of the sedan and it will be the only model in its class to offer it, which will be a big selling point. When Mercedes introduced E Class Long Wheelbase in India everyone was sceptical about the success due to the slightly higher pricing but the E Class has ruled the market and it is the current market leader in its segment.

Tata Gravitas - January 26

Tata Motors is going to introduce the 7-seater version of Gravitas on January 26 in India. The model was already revealed at 2020 Auto Expo. Some of the other features of the Gravitas include an touchscreen infotainment system, a 9-speaker audio system, automatic air conditioning, multiple drive modes and a large sunroof. Tata is expected to price the Gravitas at least INR 1 lakh above the price of the Harrier.
