Hong Kong could soon throw away millions of unused COVID-19 vaccine doses

Hong Kong might soon have to discard millions of COVID-19 vaccine doses. The city's first batch of Pfizer vaccines are reportedly expiring in three months. Hong Kong has more than three million Pfizer doses, but barely 40% have been used. The city bought two batches of million doses of Pfizer and China's Sinovac. It's one of the few places in the world that has secured more than enough vaccines for its entire population. Less than 15% of its population have received two doses. Distrust in the government, online misinformation and a lack of urgency have led to vaccine hesitancy.
